Nel 2024 viene rinnovato il Fondo europeo di solidarietà per i film ucraini attraverso due bandi: le candidature possono essere presentate entro il 15 marzo per la produzione e fino al 5 aprile per lo sviluppo dei progetti.

L’iniziativa è stata lanciata nel febbraio 2023 per sostenere i registi ucraini promuovendo al contempo le coproduzioni. Nel suo primo anno, il fondo ha sostenuto 29 progetti, 16 in fase di sviluppo e 13 in fase di produzione.

Due anni dopo l’invasione su vasta scala dell’Ucraina e dieci anni dopo l’inizio della guerra, i membri dell’ESFUF ne hanno concordato il rinnovo per un altro anno. Il fondo riunisce ora 20 sostenitori provenienti da 19 paesi diversi, membri dell’associazione EFAD e l’associazione stessa.

I progetti ammissibili sono opere cinematografiche di lunga durata (oltre 60 minuti) dirette da un regista ucraino, destinate a essere distribuite per la prima volta nelle sale. Appartengono ai generi della finzione, del documentario e dell’animazione. Sono coprodotti tra una società di produzione ucraina e una società di produzione con sede nei paesi contributori ESFUF (Belgio, Bulgaria, Croazia, Danimarca, Estonia, Francia, Germania, Grecia, Ungheria, Irlanda, Italia, Lettonia, Lituania, Lussemburgo, Paesi Bassi, Norvegia , Portogallo, Spagna, Regno Unito).

Il bilancio totale del regime nel 2024 è di 1.500.000 euro. L’importo del sostegno allo sviluppo è limitato a 25.000 euro per i documentari e a 50.000 euro per la fiction o l’animazione. Il sostegno alla finalizzazione è limitato a 75 000 euro.

I progetti presentati vengono selezionati da un comitato di esperti indipendenti.

Un progetto non selezionato ad una prima sessione può essere ripresentato due volte per lo stesso contributo. In caso di seconda o terza domanda, dovrà essere presentata una nota attestante gli sviluppi e le modifiche apportate rispetto alla domanda precedente.

European Solidarity Fund for Ukrainian Films 2024 calls for projects are now open

This semester, two specific calls are launched: submit your applications until March 15th for finalisation and April 5th for development.

The European Solidarity Fund for Ukrainian Films is an initiative launched in February 2023 to support Ukrainian filmmakers while fostering coproductions. In its first year, the fund has supported 29 projects, 16 in development and 13 in finalisation.

Two years after the full-scale invasion in Ukraine and ten years after the beginning of the war, ESFUF members have collectively agreed to renew it for another year. The fund now brings together 20 contributors from 19 different countries, members of the EFAD association, and the association itself.

The eligible projects are long-length (over 60 minutes) cinematographic works directed by a Ukrainian filmmaker, intended to be first released in theatres. They belong to the genres of fiction, documentary, and animation. They are coproduced between a Ukrainian production company and a production companies established in the ESFUF contributing countries (Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, United Kingdom).

The total budget of the scheme in 2024 is 1 500 000 €. The amount of the development support is capped at 25 000 € for documentaries and at 50 000 € for fiction or animation. Finalisation support is capped at 75 000 €.

The submitted projects are selected by a committee of independent experts.

Important information

A project not selected following a first submission session may be resubmitted twice for the same grant. In the case of a second or third application, you’ll have to provide a note stating the developments and changes made since the previous application.
