DGCA – CNC Meeting in Venice – Press Release

Si pubblica di seguito il comunicato congiunto DGCA-MiC – CNC relativo al programma di cooperazione tra i due Ministeri della Cultura italiano e francese e al lancio congiunto del Manifesto per l’Educazione all’Immagine Universale.

During the 2026 Venice International Film Festival, the Italian Directorate General for Cinema and Audiovisual of the Italian Ministry of Culture (DGCA) and the French National Centre of Cinema and Moving Image (CNC) agreed to step up their already close cooperation and work more closely together, with a view to developing common positions on key strategic issue, to promote cultural diversity, grow audiences and boost their respective industries. Following the Cooperation Programme signed in Antibes by Italian and French Ministers of Culture on 25th June 2026, they agreed on the first practical steps to put their partnership into action.

The DGCA and the CNC worked jointly on a Manifesto for Universal Image Literacy Education that will be launched by Italian and French Ministers of Culture during the Lumière Summit on 7th September 2026 in Saint-Paul-De-Vence, bringing together respective long-lasting experience with public support schemes regarding film education, supporting several initiatives.

The CNC and the DGCA also agreed to move forward with one of the key initiatives set out in the Cooperation Programme signed in Antibes: the creation of a group of experts on European policies related to the film and audiovisual sectors. Bringing together experts, institutional and industry representatives, the group will provide a forum for exchanging ideas and valuation on the main challenges facing the sector. Its immediate priorities will of course include the upcoming revision of the Audiovisual Media Services Directive and the AgoraEU programme.

This group of experts, that will be established next October in Rome on the occasion of the Rome Film Fest and the International Audiovisual Market, will contribute to further delineate  the Italian and French position on the main issues facing the film and audiovisual sector as well as  to have a common voice in defence of Europe’s cultural model and its cultural and linguistic diversity.
